Craving sushi? Just days after our diverse city’s Japanese Festival, why not indulge in some delicious Asian cuisine! Delicate-looking and bursting with flavour, we picked out five establishments with fair pricing, a great environment and an abundance of sushi, grilled meats, and specialty meals!
Wind Sushi (6485 Mississauga Rd. (Mississauga, Ont. L5N 1A6)
Am I picking favorites? It’s not like I had my birthday here and the food was delicious. The highlight was the animatronic butler delivering our meals. In this all-you-can-eat Japanese and Thai Cuisine, servers bring out little plates of yummy morsels, made with a few ingredients, resulting in natural tasting, healthy and delicious meals that you will keep re-ordering for more! My suggestion is to come around 5-6 p.m. between Monday and Friday as the environment gets a little more intimate, if you enjoy that. Along with the hand-made rolls of your choice, pick a Japanese classic like Beef Udon or celebrate Thai style with the sweet and spicy pumpkin curry. If you are all about the maki, try the spicy salmon roll. Yum!
Gyubee Bar and Grill (4559 Hurontario Street, Unit A2, Mississauga, Ontario)
There is something cool about grilling your own meat. That is why, despite being more than just a sushi restaurant, I am including this establishment as it shows another side of Japanese/Korean cuisine. A relatively new restaurant, Gyubee Sushi is a wonderful place to dine at with either friends or family. It is another easily accessible restaurant situated in downtown Mississauga with a variety of meats and veggies ready for you as you sit around the BBQ. (Unfortunately, no takeout, though) It features a lovely menu design and friendly atmosphere. Try the soy-marinated short ribs with Kimchi or the pork belly, with your favorite toppings wrapped in lettuce.
Dai Ichi (3105 Winston Churchill Boulevard #7 Mississauga ON L5L 5S3)
Established in 2001, a customer can tell the dedication and excitement the staff has in crafting tasty meals for the populace. For more than 20 years, Dai Ichi has been a shining example of dedication to great food, and customer experience. You’re welcomed by friendly staff and served with the freshest ingredients, buttery sashimi, and colourful sushi rolls. Their Korean menu should not be ignored either. The pork bone soup is spicy, hearty, and warm. Other items include Dol Sot Bibimbap, and beef bulgogi. One of the great highlights is even through takeout, the food presented is to look as appealing as if you were sitting in the restaurant itself. For a variety, and to make your money worthwhile, try their combination bento lunchboxes. My favorite is the C combination.
Kibo Sushi (100 City Centre Dr, Mississauga ON L5B 2C9)
This new restaurant recently opened at Square One Shopping Centre and offers great accessibility in downtown Mississauga. With decent prices and beautiful looking dishes, Kibo Sushi House is a welcome addition. Situated amongst the other eateries in The Food District area, if you need a quick meal on the go, you can pick up one of their pre-made sushi packs. It is certainly a hit with consumers as it has more than 20 restaurants scattered all over the GTA! Try out the Dynamite roll topped with broiled salmon. Or go for a popular combination of spicy chicken kara-age with 8-roll tempura yam.
Sushi In Sushi (2310 Battleford Rd, Mississauga, ON L5N 3K6, Canada)
I am satisfied whenever I have a chance to enter this establishmen t. Sushi in Sushi is a hidden gem in Mississauga. They have two locations around the Mississauga area. The main restaurant looks a bit simple, however do not let that deceive you. They deliver deliciousness in their warm interior, which will make you want to return all the time. The staff is friendly and very steadfast with their creations, and the evidence proves it. They have mouth-watering presentations that make you want to dig in! The food is so delicious that I want to return every week (too bad I don’t live nearby!) One of their added items I fell in love with is the Salmon tempura Poke Bowl (with extra avocados) Give it a try!
Bonus: Tokyo Maki Sushi (2 Bartley Bull Parkway, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7)
If you are ever heading North of Mississauga and cross over to Brampton, then you have to stop by Tokyo Maki Sushi. The building almost blends in with the surrounding forestry common in the Brampton lands, though I suggest that you still enter this establishment as you will be welcomed in their warm and spacious environment. As you settle in, do not hesitate to start ordering from the digital menu tablets and enjoy staples like Sashimi, Dragon roll, and several themed sushi dishes, (including the Brampton Roll – crab Meat, Shrimp, Philadelphia Cheese, Avocado, Sesame Seeds) My (and the family’s favorites are the Beef ribs and Spicy Salmon).
The next time you crave sushi while staying at our relocation housing in Mississauga, consider one of these tasty sushi locations.
