Carrasauga: Mississauga’s Festival of Cultures

To me, springtime in Mississauga is unlike any other time of the year. After hibernating inside for most of the winter, I’m ready to get outdoors, meet new people and have new experiences. Lucky for me, one event that provides all that and more is Carassuaga, held May 25 – 27 at venue locations across the city!

The Biggest Multicultural Festival in Ontario

Sure, there may be other festivals around that offer similar features, but none do them quite like Mississauga’s own Carrasauga! The festival’s 32 Cultural Pavilions are spread amongst ten different festival locations around the city. Although Hershey Centre hosts the majority of the Cultural Pavilions, city-wide community centres, legions and cultural centres hold others. Festival hours vary depending on what day you go, the Opening Ceremonies commence at 7:30 pm on Friday, May 25. Passports grant unlimited entry to all locations and Cultural Pavilions throughout the weekend. Passports are available at the Carrasauga office before the festival (or, if purchased in advance, available onsite at the Information Tent during the festival). A discounted rate of $10.00 each is available until May 25 at 4:00 pm (free for children under 12). After that, rates increase to $12.00 each and are sold at all location entrances.

Carrassauga 2018: Offering A New Experience!

Celebrating its 33rd anniversary this year, this year’s festival promises to be even bigger and better!

For the first time, the countries of Jamaica, Kyrgyz Republic, Trinidad & Tobago, Peru and Venezuela will be represented.

Plus, plenty of new attractions, entertainment and fun are on the agenda for the upcoming three-day festival!

Travel the World…Without Leaving Mississauga!

With the cost of living so expensive these days, worldwide travelling is out of the question for many Mississauga residents. And that’s one reason why Carrasauga may be so popular: the festival brings the world to Mississauga!

A great way to experience cultural diversity, Carrasauga also offers cultural dishes, performances, a Kids Zone and more.

Transit Makes Getting Around Carrasauga Easy!

With the festival locations located around the city, Carrasauga’s bus transportation makes travelling between them a breeze. Three different routes (with all of them connecting via Hershey Centre) ensure you don’t have to worry about getting all the locations checked off your passport!

Ample signage, featuring the festival’s logo and details, make it easy to know where bus stops are located. Even better? Carrasauga’s bus service is free to all passport holders and accompanying children 12 and under!
