Being displaced during an emergency is stressful enough — figuring out how you can still provide your family with healthy, home-cooked meals in the process, is an added stress you don’t need. Luckily, our insurance housing in Mississauga has a spacious kitchen where you can continue to make delicious meals from scratch, instead of spending money on ordering takeout. Our furnished apartments for rent are located right in the heart of downtown Mississauga, where you have access to all kinds of grocery stores — especially ethnic ones.
Craving some tasty African-inspired cuisine? As it turns out, there are just enough African grocery stores in Mississauga to satisfy that craving.
Kaf African Caribbean Market (2642 Liruma Rd.)
Kaf African Caribbean Market has been around for 16 years and chances are, if you’re looking for a specific item, they have it. They offer everything from African delicacies, such as escargot, jollof and fumbwa, recognizable brands of canned and packaged foods, as well as produce, spices and drinks.
You can also get all the beauty and hair products needed, like black soap, shea butter and batik, as well as clothing and fabrics. Think of it as a one-stop shop.
African Caribbean Grocery (63 Dundas St. W.)
African Caribbean Grocery has everything you could want — and need. They have a large selection of food and beauty products along with other imported items. From meats and ugali, to tamarind syrup and ugba, to chebe powder and karkar oil, you can’t go wrong.
Naomi African Food Market (1370 Dundas St. E.)
Naomi African Food Market has two locations in the GTA — North York (so, no) and, of course, Mississauga. Located in the Medilife Medical Centre, all you need to do is think of some type of African meat, seafood, produce, canned good, bulk item, drink, snack (and so much more) and they will have it. And everything is the highest of quality — at comparable costs.
But the store’s fresh, authentic variety isn’t even the best part. Naomi also delivers so if you don’t feel like leaving your cozy home at Platinum Suites, for a small fee, you can have everything you need brought right to your door.
African Safari Tropical Market
Technically, African Safari Tropical Market isn’t in Mississauga but, rather, in Brampton (just north of the city). With all the African products you could ask for, attentive staff, quick service, and loads of free parking, it’s worth the short drive.
Platinum Suites: Located Close to African Grocery Stores
When you’re in Mississauga, you never have to go far to feel like you’re far away from home — and stock said home with all the familiar products you know and love. Have your insurance company contact our emergency housing in Mississauga when disaster strikes. Patinum Suites is conveniently located in the centre of Mississauga, so you’re just a short drive away from one of the city’s African restaurants. Ask our friendly concierge desk for help navigating around Mississauga (and Brampton).
